David Hunter Biography
A native of Central
Florida, David Hunter inherited his father’s artistic talent and began
to draw at an early age. Although he has worked in oil, acrylic and
watercolor for some time, he discovered his strong attraction for pen
and ink while illustrating his microscopic findings for his master’s
thesis in biology.
The young artist began
exhibiting his drawings in 1977 and found an encouraging response to his
highly individualistic style and subject matter. The following year he
added a new dimension to his work by acquiring etching presses and
producing original prints. The accuracy, devotion to detail and
involvement that made his pen and ink drawings, unique now characterize
each of his etchings. He feels the additional techniques available in
making an etched plate give him a wider range of possibilities to better
express his artistic creativity.
Hunter has won an array of
awards in numerous shows and has given one-man exhibitions in many
cities of the southeastern United States. His work is included in
several corporate collections.
