Richard Muccini Biography
Richard
Muccini resides on Cape Cod. He is a native of Boston where he graduated
from Boston University, and then went on to receive a graduate degree
from Suffolk University.
Richard established his business career in the high tech industry. When
this lead to a move to New York City, he began his art studies at the
Art Students League. He had the good fortune to study with such
well-known artists as Gregg Kreutz, David Leffel and Sherrie McGraw.
Still Life and portraiture were the primary focus of his studies.
Richard was drawn to the classical style of the early Dutch and Flemish
Masters known as “chiaroscuro”, referring to the contrast between light
and dark in the paintings. This approach gives a painting the feel of
volume; giving two-dimensional objects the sense of being
three-dimensional solid forms.
Since
moving to Cape Cod, Richard has continued to pursue his love of art by
working with local artists such as Leah Lopez, Joseph McGurl, William
Maloney, Janet Gilmore, Arnold Desmarais, Jane Lincoln, and Gordon
Jones. He also gives time to the artistic community on Cape Cod
including the Cape Cod Art Association where he served on the board of
directors from 2002-2006 and as President from 2004-2006.
Over
the recent years, Richard has had his work accepted by a number of
juried shows, including the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York
City.
