From the dramatic skies surrounding his studio in Santa Fe, to the powder white beaches of the Caribbean, Jesse Blanchard’s bold, expressive style captures his passion for imagination, adventure, travel, and most importantly happiness.

“I love to make my artwork. To apply paint, to print, to see how colors work together, side by side and cumulatively as a composition. Each piece is a patchwork of sorts, a combination of several ideas within each piece. My aim is to evoke a sense of place through a visually appealing composition. Cheerful, vibrant colors combine with symbols and imaginary landscapes to create rhapsodic abstract compositions. Recurring themes of the sea, mountains and sky intertwine with symbols of houses, trees and waves and marks of circles, squares, lines and patterns. ”

By utilizing a variety of media, Jesse is able to keep his energy fresh in each and every work. Traditional oils on linen sit side-by-side with mixed media work, a combination of paper weaving, collage, pastel, graphite, gouache, watercolor, sumi ink and acrylic paint. Bold, vibrant colors and the visual language of squares, circles, lines, marks and shapes, dance, undulate and vibrate in a world reminiscent of Miro, Chagall and Kandinsky.

Blanchard’s work hangs in private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has exhibited in New York, California, Vermont,Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Anguilla and Antigua in the Caribbean.
